Duck Nails
I have received a few emails asking "what are those nails called that are
featured in the picture of the week Photo". Well ladies that is what they
call Duck-nails. Usually each one is painted differently but kept along the same
color scheme and kept with-in the same theme such as flowers or water swirls.
The technique is simple, they use the toe nail tips for your thumb and
move down in size accordingly to your needs. The technician would proceed with
the acrylic application. A few of the nails can be "crowned" and "mooned".
Crowned simply means that 3 groves are filed on the tips to give an effect of
the nail being a crown, "mooned" is one swooping groove filled into the
tip.
These nails are very decorative and can be quite costly.
Just an idea, get Duck-nails next time you need a fresh set. when you get a
refill in 2 weeks, get a few crowned, It should only cost as much as a cut down
but most saloons don't charge they're regulars for a cut down anyway so you can
possibly score a crown or two for free. On the second refill, get a piercing or
two. The key is to build these nails up over time, don't go straight into such a
bold look. Once everyone sees your Duck-nails, they are gonna go get they're
own! They are the BOMB!!
